Top Ten Friends Every Woman Needs

Today's top 10 post is all about friendship.  This is a list of the top 10 friends every woman should have in her life.

  1. A Childhood Friend.  For me, my childhood friend also happens to be my best friend.  We met when we were both in 8th grade, during our church's confirmation retreat.  We've been friends ever since.  She is the one person that I know I can count on, no matter what.  She's been with me through all the ups and downs of my teenage years, the tough times I had in my twenty's, and finally into my thirty's and beyond.  We haven't lived in the same town in many, many years, and sometimes months can go by that we don't talk.  But, when we do, we just pick up right where we left off.  She's awesome and I'm am so, so lucky to have her.
  2. A New Friend.  Being homeschoolers, making new friends is never a problem.  We're always out and about in our various activities and groups and we meet new people all the time.  I do struggle with getting beyond just meeting them though.  Am I the only one who has trouble establishing close friendships?  It was so much easier when I was a kid.
  3. A Workout Friend.  This one is a no-brainer.  I need to find one of these!!  They help you stay on track and motivate you when you need it.  You do the same for her.
  4. A Spiritual Friend.  This is the friend that truly gets to know your heart and soul.  She helps you with your faith.  Someone you can discuss bible readings with, or a great christian song you heard.  She helps you stay true to your faith each and every day.
  5. A Younger Friend.  She's the one that keeps you young.  You can be a mentor to her as she goes through relationships, marriage and then possibly children.  It puts things into perspective for you.  Young people are such fun to be around, and that youthful fun can be contagious!
  6. Your Husband's Friend.  This is one I guess I really need to work on.  My husband has several friends that we see regularly.  Only one of them is married.  The thinking on this one is that if you and your husbands lives are completely meshed, including your mutual friends, it makes your relationship stronger.
  7. Your Mom.  If you're not close friends with your mom, you are seriously missing out.  My mother is my go to person when I need to talk about anything.  She probably doesn't always enjoy all of the rants and raves that I have on a daily basis, but she's always there.  There is nothing like having your mom as your friend.  I seriously don't know what I would do without mine.
  8. A Homeschooling Friend.  Now, if you're not a homeschooler, then you could change this one to be whatever you'd like.  Let's face it, its hard homeschooling.  If you can make close friends that are in the same boat as you, it really helps.  You have someone to talk to when the going gets rough.  She'll help you see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.  You can share ideas, curriculum, and so much more.
  9. Your Husband.  I feel that being friends with your husband is so important.  It makes your relationship so much richer.  If you find things that you enjoy doing together as friends, you both win.
  10. Yourself.  Oh yeah...I need to work on this one too!  To be a friend to yourself, you really need to actually like yourself.  I think we all have moments where we don't like ourselves too much.  But this particular relationship is so very important.  If you don't like you, why would anyone else?

Hopefully you have some or maybe even all of these friends in your life.  Friendships are the key to a long and happy life, so be sure to let your friends know just how important they really are.  For more great Top 10 posts, be sure to stop by Oh Amanda's blog.

  1. I really like this list! Wow, so true. So, can one friend fall into multiple categories at different times?

  2. This is a wonderful list...and I apparently need a bunch more friends lol. I do have quite a few of them covered though which is a relief :) Making friends in a foreign country is still a hurdle for me...even after 10 years!
