Happy Memorial Day!

Our family had such a nice long, relaxing Memorial weekend. Daddy was off both Friday and Monday, allowing us to spend some quality time together. Daddy took the boys fishing on Saturday morning, and again this morning. We girls stayed home and enjoyed the peace and quiet! We did however stop by to snap some pictures of some of the fish they caught before they let them go.

Christmas in May?

Today sure felt like Christmas since we had our brand new curriculum delivered this afternoon. I just LOVE getting new stuff to use, don't you? We just about have everything we need for next year already. In this shipment I received a brand new Science curriculum to try, Apologia, Book 2 of The Story of the World, along with the corresponding activity guide, and some additional Hot Dot flash cards. My kids just love these! We have the multiplication kit, states & capitals, money, and time. Now we even have 3 hot dot electronic pens. One for each kid. These make great fillers for workboxes. The kids don't even realize how much they're learning. They just think they're having fun! The boys also got their new Saxon math workbooks for next year. For some reason they weren't near as excited about those. Go figure.

Week in Revew

This week we had a busy week playing catch up after week long Florida vacation. This time of year is always so difficult for us. With the lazy, crazy days of Summer looming, its hard to buckle down and finish up our year. Thursday was spent at the dentist getting Haley's teeth pulled to aid in the proper eruption of her permanent teeth. She also had one cavity filled. She was such a trooper! We also attended our homeschool groups' used book sale that afternoon. Friday we had the wonderful opportunity to meet with a group of fellow homeschool families to try out a new PE class. It was held at a local gymnastics facility and my kids thoroughly enjoyed it! Not only did they get the opportunity to get some exercise and fun, but I got the chance to chat with the other moms during the class. All in all, not a bad week.

Five days of Disney!

Day 1 was spent enjoying Mother's Day at our resort. We stayed at Disney's All Star Movies Resort and lucked into getting a room in the 101 Dalmations building.

Day 2 we headed off to Disney's Animal Kingdom. This was our 2nd trip to this park and we enjoyed it just as much. If you've never been there, I highly recommend it. This time we purchased the park hopper option which made this trip so much better!

We wore ourselves out at Animal Kingdom, then went back to our hotel to swim and eat dinner. Then we headed over to Disney Studios for the after hours perk as a hotel guest. We were able to ride most everything with little to no wait. Haley rode her first upside down roller coaster! She loved the Rockin Roller Coaster so much that she rode it twice that night.

Day 3 we started out at Epcot to check out the Festival of Flowers. They had the most incredible topiaries I have ever seen. We rode Soarin first thing due to the long wait times on this ride. It was really incredible. You really do feel like you're flying high over California! After that we headed over to the Magic Kingdom.

Day 4 started out back at Disney and finished up at Epcot to check out World Showcase. Our last day was spent first back at Disney Studios, and then back to the Magic Kingdom. We got to meet so many characters on this trip! Disney Studios is a great place to meet them without such long lines.

Happy Birthday Mimi!

Today we celebrated my grandmother in law's 85th birthday. We are very close to Mimi as we spend every Wednesday night & Sunday afternoon with her each week. She had a big party with lots of friends and family. Here she is with her proud grandson, my hubby.

Week in Review

This past week was a busy one as usual. We're winding down our school year and I think we all have a case of Spring fever. The weather has been so beautiful that its really hard to buckle down, stay indoors and do school work. We had a fun (did I really say fun?) day at the dentist on Tuesday where I found out that Haley will need to have 4 teeth pulled and two cavities filled. Apparently she has teeth that will end up coming into the roof of her mouth if they aren't pulled soon. Very nice. Luckily, the boys both breezed through and thought it was a really cool place to visit. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the fact that they have movies, a Wii, Playstation 3, goodie bags and soft serve ice cream afterwards. I probably would have liked my dentist as a child if he had all of that!

Today was my Sunday school class' First Communion. I couldn't have been any prouder of my 27 students as they all made their very first Communion. They all looked like little angels! Its a relief when its over, but I'm sad to see them go. They were a truly wonderful class! So ends another year...and no classes until the Fall when my boys will be in my class.

Lastly, we spent this afternoon chasing down animals to get their shot at the annual rabies clinic in our county. Never fails that at least one of them will disappear when we need them! Today we missed two of our cats, which means I'll have to haul them to the veterinarian instead. Oh well... As I write this, my wonderful hubby is working his magic with dinner in his new smoker. Smoked turkey breast for me and the kids, and ribs for him. Yum! I hope your week was a good one too.
